Brampton Triveni Mandir celebrated Holi with great enthusiasm and grandeur over the weekend, marking a memorable event in the temple’s history. The celebrations commenced on Friday, March 22, with a special event commemorating the temple’s one-year anniversary since its opening. The anniversary celebration featured a grand show showcasing the talents of temple students, including captivating performances of singing, Bharathanatyam, Kathak, Tabla, Bollywood, Sanskrit recitations, and a delightful Holi Play performed by Baal Shiksha students. Despite the snowy weather, the event drew a crowd of over 600 attendees who were enthralled by the performances.
On Sunday, March 24, Triveni Mandir hosted a grand outdoor Holi Mela, attracting over 3000 people from across the GTA. The tents and parking lot were filled with revelers enjoying the festivities, which included playing Holi, singing, and dancing. The event featured a variety of performances, including those by the Mandir Chowtaal group, Bharathanatyam dancers, singers, Bhangra dancers, and musicians playing Dhol and Tassa. The celebration culminated at 7 pm with the traditional Holika Dahan ceremony in the parking lot.
The event was graced by the presence of Mayor Patrick Brown, Regional Councillors, Indian Consul General Mr. Siddhartha Nath, Honorary Consul General of Guyana Mr. Mani Singh, as well as various MPs, MPPs, and members of the community.
Many attendees expressed that this was their best Holi experience in Canada to date. Despite the cold weather, the sun shone brightly, warming up the spirits of all present. Attendees kept warm by dancing and joyfully applying powder on family, friends, and even strangers. The celebration showcased the unity of the Hindu community in the GTA and highlighted the beauty and joy of Hindu festivals. Triveni Mandir extends warm wishes to everyone for a very Happy Holi!
