A Historic Evening in Guelph: CHCC South West Ontario Chapter’s First Small Business Meetup Unites Over 100 Hindu Entrepreneurs

    Dhwani Special Report – Guelph

The spirit of entrepreneurship, community, and cultural pride shone brightly in the Royal City of Guelph on August 29, 2025, as the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) – South West Ontario Chapter hosted its first-ever Small Business Meetup at the University of Guelph’s picturesque Arboretum.

The event was nothing short of historic — drawing together over 100 Hindu business leaders, professionals, and community influencers from Burlington, Hamilton, Guelph, Kitchener, Cambridge, London, Windsor, Clinton, and beyond. It was a night where vision met opportunity, and where the collective strength of the Hindu business community in South Western Ontario came alive.

The evening, expertly emceed by Kaushik Patel and Dhruv Shah, blended tradition and progress with networking, thought-provoking speeches, a delightful dinner, and a dynamic roundtable discussion.

In his inspiring address, Bhadresh Patel, President of the CHCC South West Ontario Chapter, called the event a defining moment.

“This meetup was a powerful platform for our community to connect, share ideas, and grow together. We are thrilled to see such enthusiasm and look forward to building on this momentum,” Patel said, as the audience responded with resounding applause.

Sponsors, including Galaxy Fine Homes, Affinity Mortgage, The Indian Supermarket, and Sachin Patel, were recognized for their pivotal role in making the evening possible. Volunteers were also celebrated for their tireless dedication.

Dr. Rakesh Kantaria, CHCC Secretary, brought excitement by announcing two major upcoming events: a Brampton Small Business Meetup and the grand Annual Dhanteras Gala on October 10, 2025, expected to welcome nearly 1,000 attendees.

Meanwhile, CHCC President Kushagr Sharma painted a broader vision: a Chamber that has grown into three thriving chapters and nearly 350 life members nationwide. His message was clear — CHCC is not just about business; it’s about building unity, prosperity, and pride among Canadian Hindus.

The event was elevated by the presence of distinguished political and business leaders, who highlighted the Hindu community’s invaluable role in Canada’s economic and cultural fabric:

      • Dominique O’Rourke, MP for Guelph, lauded the entrepreneurial drive and cultural values of the Hindu community, recalling her close engagement with its members since 2023.
      • Mike Schreiner, Ontario Greens Leader and MPP for Guelph, stressed the importance of small businesses — which employ over 60% of Canadians — and called for supportive policies such as payroll tax relief and fair commercial tenancy rules.
      • Dan Muys, MP for Flamborough–Glanbrook–Brant North, emphasized the need to expand Canada–India trade ties and highlighted federal resources available to small business owners and startups.
      • Tushar Joglekar, Senior Vice President at Xebia, inspired attendees with insights on how technology is transforming the future of small businesses, enabling them to compete globally.

Their words validated the immense potential within the Hindu business community and underscored the growing recognition it commands in Canada.

The event concluded with a spirited roundtable discussion, where attendees exchanged real-life experiences, shared solutions to common challenges, and forged new partnerships. The atmosphere was electric — filled with optimism, collaboration, and a sense of shared destiny.

Gaurav Sheel, Chapter Secretary, closed the evening with a heartfelt vote of thanks, appreciating the dedication of the leadership team and volunteers, and welcoming new CHCC members who joined during the event.

Behind the success stood a dedicated group of leaders and volunteers. Alongside President Bhadresh Patel, the South West Ontario Chapter’s foundation was strengthened by Sachin Patel, Dharmesh Patel, Gaurav Sheel, Haren Trivedi, Kaushik Patel, Sanjay Gupta, and Sheetal Shah.

The tireless efforts of volunteers Dhiren Trivedi, Nilesh Patel, Dhruv Shah, and the CHCC Youth Team were equally instrumental in creating this historic evening.

      Looking Ahead with Confidence

With its first Small Business Meetup in Guelph now etched as a milestone, the CHCC South West Ontario Chapter has set a strong precedent for future endeavors. The upcoming Brampton meetup and the grand Dhanteras Gala 2025 promise to carry forward the momentum, strengthening the bonds of community, culture, and commerce.

For Canada’s Hindu entrepreneurs, the message is clear: a new era of collaboration and opportunity has begun.
