Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) Major Crime Unit has made significant progress in the investigation of a Kitchener homicide that occurred on August 13, 2023.
Habiton Solomon, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for Second Degree Murder, has been apprehended. Members of the Hamilton Police Service arrested Mr. Solomon on May 31, 2024, on unrelated charges in Hamilton. This arrest follows a reward of up to $50,000 offered by the Bolo Program in cooperation with Waterloo Regional Crime Stoppers for information leading to Mr. Solomon’s arrest.
Mr. Solomon was listed as one of Bolo’s Top 25 most wanted fugitives for his involvement in the Kitchener homicide. The incident occurred outside a business in the area of Queen Street and Charles Street. Police responded to reports of shots fired and discovered an 18-year-old male who had sustained injuries from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Two other individuals, a 25-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, both from Hamilton, have been charged with Manslaughter in connection with this homicide. The 25-year-old was charged on October 5, 2023, and the 19-year-old was charged on September 27, 2023.
Additionally, Mr. Solomon was wanted in connection to a shooting in Hamilton on July 22, 2023. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in that incident.
